First night session with the Seestar S50. Went quite well setting it up. After the first few shots of M82 sitting next to the telescope, I took the phone (which was connected) into the bedroom (room closest to the telescope), and it was still connected. So I just let i shoot away. Eventually I took the phone into the living room (furtest room from the telescope), and the connection was still fine. |

A nice session together with Teresa and David. They had a smaller Newtonian (130mm if I remember correctly), which they didn't try properly yet. There were some misconfigurations, but we did manage to view Jupiter after some trial and error. We definitely should align the finderscope during daytime at some point, and make sure it is assembled correctly. We also had a view through my own telescope, which luckily was working just fine. |

I made two sessions this day. As I was driving home, we were able to see the Moon during daytime, so I wanted to setup the telescope. I saw the Moon easily enough, but wanted to have a look at Jupiter. I checked its location in Stellarium, and hunted it down with binoculars before also observing it with the telescope. The forecast showed clear weather, so I set up the mount before I could see any stars, ready to do polar alignment. I could see Polaris a bit later in the polar scope, so I attached the telescope. When I started the 3-SA I was very confused why it was so far off (going for Vega), but turns out it was due to the previous alignment (which was quite bad). So after making a huge adjustment for all three stars, the additional polar alignment was very smooth. Later I tried locating Caldwell 33 and 34 (wanted to test the OIII filter properly, but couldn't detect them), and the scope hit the mount resulting in a misalignment. A quick 2-SA fixed the problem. |

Wanted to test the new OIII filter for the first time, but was too lazy to do an alignment, so was not able to find the Veil nebula unfortunately. Interesting though, stars are green in this filter - so this answer the question "what wavelength is OIII?". Next time the weather and energy allows, I will do an alignment so I can use the GoTo |

In this session I did not use my own instruments, rather I was observing with Eigil and his telescopes (12" dob and a smaller MS). We observed various objects, for example M57 (Ring nebula) for the first time, which was so cool to see. We also used around 300x on M13, which really makes it possible to see individual stars - even under subpar conditions. Had a few moments with Saturn and other objects. It was also a pleasure to observe the double star Albireo in Cygnus, and the "double double". Lastly we talked about variable stars, which we will try to observe together in our next session. |

Trying to do a good alignment with the goto, so we could go through a lot of various objects. The alignment was quite good, and the limiting factor was the atmosphere. Also, it was not that late, so still some light from sunset + the light pollution. |

First time playing around with the new eyepiece. No major plans, and did not attach goto, so everything was manual. We saw a lot of satellites, and at one point I followed one with the telescope near Cygnus until I saw a fuzzy object. I moved to center this object. I'm uncertain about what it is. It did not look like a cluster, so that would leave a nebula or galaxy. At best estimate it was between Albireo and Altair, so a guess is the Dumbbell nebula. After more research it is certain it was indeed the Dumbbell nebula, which was confirmed with the stars near it. First time observing a planetary nebula, and be pure chance following a satellite. |
